as well as family. - Taste and Quality as compared to CompetitorI am originally from Hilo, but have been living in CA for over 40 years. I always shop at Big Island Candies in Hilo whenever I go home, and have been happy to see the store flourish.
My sister, who lives on Oahu, recently visited me and brought me a box of the Big Island Candies assortment, with both dipped and flavored shortbread cookies, a brownie and candy. She also brought a box of the Honolulu Cookie Company assortment. She mentioned she got them at the airport, and the HCC box was almost twice the price of the BIC box!
Upon doing a taste test, my sister was quite surprised at how much better the BIC cookies were. The texture, taste and quality of the HCC cookies couldn't touch the BIC cookies! The HCC cookie tasted and had the texture of a regular store-bought/mass produced cookie. The BIC cookie melted in our mouths. She expected more from the competition, and was sadly disappointed. I told her to stick with Big Island Candies next time, and save the money too.
I tell everyone I know: If you're going to buy cookies at the Honolulu airport or anywhere in Hawaii, Pass on the Hawaii Cookie Co - pick up the Big Island Candies Cookies - they have a superior product and are a better value!

- OMG! These are the VERY BEST!These were at the dentists office & I ate the 2 that were in the bowl! SOOOOO GOOD! So yummy I had to ask tbe receptionist what kind of cookies they were so I can get myself some. The butter cookie & chocolate are very good quality! I'll be ordering some real soon & not sharing...
