Manager – Celebrations

Location:

Gorgeous specialty gifts featuring delicious, individually wrapped goodies is just one of the things for which Big Island Candies is renowned.

We are seeking a Manager for our Celebrations Department who will lead, direct and oversee all production operations within the department; supervise, develop and train Leads and other staff members in the areas of production, quality and scheduling, to ensure the timely, efficient, safe and cost-effective creation of high-quality specialty gift products.

Essential duties include:

  • Plan and organize employee work and production schedules to meet operational needs;
  • Oversee and uphold quality production standards in accordance with company guidelines, policies and procedures;
  • Forecast and assess inventory, as well as order the necessary products from the Factory, Mail Order department, etc.
  • Provide daily supervision, support and leadership to department Leads and staff;
  • Work with department staff, accounting staff and other departments to ensure correct inventory and accurate inventory reporting;
  • Conduct training, plus evaluate and provide corrective measures, when applicable, to department members, in order to motivate and help ensure individual success, as well as the success, cohesiveness and efficiency of the department.

Qualifications and attributes include:

  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in a related capacity;
  • Knowledge of production and process-quality controls, and other techniques for maximizing the effective production and distribution of goods;
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, employee relations, and leadership techniques, in the coordination of people and resources;
  • Good human-relations skills; strong verbal and written communication skills required;
  • Must possess leadership ability and good team-building skills to effectively direct and supervise personnel, and interact with all levels of management;
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of Big Island Candies;
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple priorities; strong attention to details, accuracy and meeting deadlines;
  • Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities;
  • Self-motivated and strong problem-solving skills;
  • Practice a high level of confidentiality;
  • Proficient in using the Internet; email; Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (non-peak period). For peak seasons (including Christmas holiday season): 8:00 a.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m. Work schedule subject to operational needs. During Christmas holiday season: Includes evening-shift work (approximately 4 weeks), weekends (7-day workweek), nights and/or staggered start time—must be flexible and available to meet operational needs.

Bilingual Customer Service Representative (CSR)

Location:

Ala Moana Store (Honolulu, Hawaii)

Position open for a (Full-Time or Part-Time) Bilingual CSR: requirements include fluency in Japanese to assist our Retail team, as well as ability to serve as an exceptional Brand Ambassador to all of our visitors—local, mainland and international alike.

Additional requirements include:

  • Extraordinary customer service skills, whereby you could be greeting guests with a smile; assisting others in the aisles; perhaps serving tasty treats with a side of pleasant conversation; ringing up purchases at the register, never forgetting that heartfelt “Mahalo”; 
  • Lend a hand to other store-related activities as needed.

Warehouse/Stock Clerk Customer Service Representative (CSR)

Position open for a Part-Time Warehouse/Stock Clerk CSR in Retail: requirements include loading, transporting and unloading boxes from warehouse to stock room to store shelves (must have ability to lift and move up to 55 lbs.); help keep our shelves and displays stocked, ensuring products and other items are neat and organized; display an enthusiastic openness to switch from one task to another, if necessary, in order to provide positive, effective customer assistance.

Additional requirements include:

  • Know the inventory story: As a Brand Ambassador, you could be fielding questions about products or directing customers to other desired areas of the store; perhaps providing a sample of a tasty treat, never forgetting that meaningful “Mahalo”;
  • Carry friendly conversations with customers: Upbeat, personable disposition with a natural ability to upsell and boost sales by interacting with shoppers; providing informative recommendations; offering product samples;
  • Ability to “shift gears”: Lend a hand to other store-related activities as needed, so an adaptable/flexible nature is a must.
